CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support

Description 

This qualification reflects the role of workers in the community and/or residential setting who follow an individualised plan to provide person-centred support to  people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason.

Work involves using discretion and judgement in relation to individual support as well as taking responsibility for own outputs. Workers have a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge, as well as some theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices required to provide person-centred support.

Qualification information

CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual support consists of 13 units of competency made up of 7 core units and 6 elective units. This qualification includes a mandatory 120 hour work placement.

CHCDIV001 Work with diverse people.

CHCLEG001 Work legally and ethically.

HLTAAP001 Recognise healthy body systems.

HLTWHS002 Follow safe work practices for direct client care.

Where a student wishes to complete a specialisation they must select at least one of the following areas of study. 

Ageing

CHCAGE001 Facilitate the empowerment of older people.

CHCAGE005 Provide support to people living with dementia.

CHCCCS011 Meet personal support needs.

Disability

CHCDIS001 Contribute to ongoing skills development using a strengths-based approach.

CHCDIS002 Follow established person-centered behaviour support.

CHCDIS003 Support community participation and social interaction.

CHCDIS007 Facilitate the empowerment of people with a disability.

Home and Community

CHCAGE001 Facilitate the empowerment of older people.

CHCCCS025 Support relationships with carers and families.

CHCHCS001 Provide home and community support services.

Elective units 

CHCPAL001 Deliver care service using a palliative approach.

CHCLAH003 Participate in planning, implementation and monitoring of individual leisure and health programs.

CHCPRP003 Reflect on and improve own professional practice.

Elective units have been selected by HANMAC on the basis of consultation with industry. Elective units that are not included in the elective section of this page are available by negotiation. Elective units must meet the packaging rules within CHC33015 before being considered for inclusion.

Support

Students enrolling in this course will be provided support by phone and email as required. Face to face meetings can be arranged by appointment.  Students requiring higher level support then what can be provide will be referred to external support services.

Funding

Course Duration

Six months. This course is competency based and can be completed in a shorter time frame depending on the students existing skills and knowledge and prior learning.
